Middle-aged banker Arthur Hamilton is given the opportunity to start a completely new life when he receives calls from his old friend Charlie. The only problem is that Charlie is supposed to be dead. Intrigued and unsettled, Hamilton follows the clues to a mysterious organization known as the "Company," which specializes in faking clients' deaths and providing them with entirely new identities. After undergoing extensive physical reconstruction surgery, as well as months of psychological conditioning and training, Hamilton is reborn as Tony Wilson—a successful artist living in Malibu. The Company provides him with a luxurious home and a manservant, who is actually an employee assigned to monitor his transition. At first, Hamilton embraces his new life, but he soon realizes that escaping his past doesn’t bring the fulfillment he expected. He struggles with loneliness, identity confusion, and the haunting remnants of his former self. Dissatisfied and desperate, Hamilton contacts the Company again, demanding to reverse the process. However, he discovers the terrifying truth: the procedure is irreversible, and the Company has no intention of letting him return to his old life. Trapped in his new identity, Hamilton must confront the consequences of his choice—and the unsettling realization that the Company’s control over him is far more absolute than he ever imagined.
