On leave in a shore side town, Johnny becomes interested in a young dark-haired woman named Marina. They meet and he learns that she plays a mermaid in the local carnival's aquatic show. As they grow closer, Johnny notices Marina exhibits unusual behavior—especially during the full moon. Mysterious drownings begin occurring along the coast, each coinciding with the lunar cycle. Haunted by eerie dreams and Marina's cryptic warnings to stay away from the water at night, Johnny starts investigating. He discovers a dark legend about a vengeful mermaid who lures men to their deaths under the moonlight. The more he uncovers, the more he suspects Marina might not just be playing a mermaid—she could be the real thing.
