A woman escapes to the countryside for a peaceful weekend after facing job loss and the collapse of her last turbulent relationship. She rents a charming country house from an old-fashioned widower, who appears kind at first but gradually reveals disturbing behavior. As the weekend unfolds, she discovers the widower's dark secrets and his struggle to conceal his violent psychopathic tendencies.
