Seasoned horse jockey Jackson (Clifton Collins Jr.) has weathered decades of races on the riding circuit, but he now finds himself facing what could be his last season as his health deteriorates. With the help of his longtime friend and trainer Ruth (Molly Parker) and a promising new horse, Jackson starts to prepare for the upcoming championship, hoping to go out on top. His plans take a left turn when a budding young jockey, Gabriel (Moisés Arias), shows up and claims to be his long-lost son. Caught between yearning for a connection and uncertainty about his own future, Jackson is forced to confront difficult questions regarding his legacy, both on and off the track. As he mentors Gabriel and navigates their complicated relationship, Jackson must also come to terms with his declining physical abilities and the sacrifices he’s made for his career.
